Auto Glass Insurance FAQs

Answers to the questions drivers ask us most about auto glass claims and coverage.

What are deductibles?

A deductible is the portion you pay yourself when you file an insurance claim. For example, if your glass work costs $1,000 and you have a $500 deductible, you pay the first $500 and your insurer pays the remaining $500.

Am I responsible for paying my own deductible?

Normally yes — the deductible is your share of the claim. At RaptorsO2 Auto Glass, though, we’ll cover up to 100% of your comprehensive deductible on eligible insurance-billed claims, so your glass service may end up costing you nothing out of pocket. The exact amount depends on your insurer, policy and claim, and we confirm it with you before any work starts. See full terms.

Do I have to pay a deductible for windshield repair?

Often not. Many insurers waive the deductible on chip and crack repairs because repairing is far cheaper for them than a full replacement. We confirm the details with your provider before any work starts.

What do I do when my vehicle’s auto glass has been damaged?

Call us as soon as you can, or send a photo of the damage. We’ll assess it, recommend a repair or a replacement, file the insurance claim for you and deal with your provider from start to finish.

What’s the difference between OEM and OEE auto glass?

OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) glass comes from the same manufacturer that made your vehicle’s original glass. OEE (Original Equipment Equivalent) glass is made by a different manufacturer to the same fit, quality and safety specifications, usually at a lower price. We offer both so you can pick what suits your budget.

What is comprehensive coverage?

Comprehensive coverage protects your vehicle against damage that isn’t caused by a collision — flying debris, vandalism, theft and severe weather. Most auto glass claims fall under this part of the policy.

What is collision coverage?

Collision coverage pays for damage caused by hitting another vehicle or object. If your glass is broken in an accident, the repair or replacement is usually covered under this portion of your policy.

What is uninsured coverage?

Uninsured coverage protects you and your vehicle when the at-fault driver has no insurance or can’t be identified — a hit-and-run, for example.

Will my policy cover glass damage if someone else was driving my car?

In most cases, yes. Auto insurance generally follows the vehicle rather than the driver, so the damage is typically covered as long as the person had your permission to drive. We’ll confirm the specifics with your provider.
